Biography
Nikolaus Neuser is a trumpeter, improviser, and composer based in Berlin. His work spans the intersections of jazz, free improvisation, and creative music. He studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with Uli Beckerhoff and now lives in Berlin.
In his projects, Nikolaus Neuser constantly explores new musical horizons. His current formations include the trio I Am Three as well as the duos noiserkroiser (with Timo Kreuser) and Duospiracy (with Theo Jörgensmann). A dedicated advocate of collective work, he has collaborated and collaborates with artists such as Silke Eberhard, Baby Sommer, Kevin Shea, Maggie Nicols, Henry Threadgill, Matana Roberts, Matthew Herbert, and Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky.

Nikolaus Neuser has appeared on around 80 CDs and records. His work has been awarded multiple times, including the German Jazz Award and the German Record Critics’ Award, and has been featured in prestigious “best of” lists such as Downbeat Magazine, New York City Jazz Record, and All About Jazz.
International tours have taken him on behalf of the Goethe-Institut to Asia, the USA, Europe, and Colombia, where he also served as a guest professor in Bogotá.
